Taking the Time to Find Yourself – The Most Important Thing you can Do

In today’s times, it’s more important than ever to check in with yourself. When’s the last time you took care of your mind and body? Everything you consume whether food or information affects your body and mind.

If you don’t take time for yourself or use downtime to process the negative thoughts and stress you experience, your body will react in ways you don’t like. You can’t run away from stress or unhappiness forever – it will manifest in other ways.

This is the year to take care of yourself. It’s the year to turn inward, listen to your body both physically and mentally, and provide what it needs.

What can you Do?

There are many ways to find yourself, but don’t get overwhelmed doing it – you’ll defeat the purpose.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I eating foods my body needs and love? If not, are you eating mindlessly or eating to stuff away your feelings?
  • Am I giving my body the movement it needs? Stop and listen to your body, what is it asking for? Does it need more fresh air and brisk walking, a gym workout, or something different?
  • Am I getting the interaction I need to feel fulfilled? Whether you live alone or in a house filled with family, are you getting meaningful interaction, or is it all mundane, leaving you feeling drained?
  • Am I getting the quiet time I need to slow down and listen to my body and mind or do I just run circles around myself?

Answer these questions honestly. Then listen to the answers. What are they trying to tell you? Do you need more time to yourself? Are you lost and trying to find ways to ‘find yourself’?

This is the first step to getting the help you need.
